One week of summer left. I don't know about you, but I'm here for making it breezy and easy and sweet. .
I wrote my top 10 fav memories from this summer a few days ago - ever the documenter over here 🙋‍♀️ (who's with me?!)

This is what growing feels like (well some of the time 😂). ⁠
.⁠
When I started this journey venturing out on my own for REAL, pushing off shore (secure corporate job), it really felt like a leap - into an ocean of unknowns. ⁠
.⁠
I knew a few things. I wanted to SERVE clients going through stuff in their careers - be that individuals or in groups.⁠
. ⁠
I wanted to sit across the table (um screen actually, I ❤️ zoom), holding space, asking questions, supporting, playing back, coming up with ideas and strategies, and helping people find and go after their CALLING. ⁠
.⁠
Encouraging mindset shifts, greater confidence, optimism, and intentional action. ⁠
.⁠
Turns out doing that stuff kept me busy. 50+ clients later, I'm kind of in awe of this whole transition process. .
We never stop evolving. Change is so possible. .⁠
I've been quiet here because I've been out there living my calling doing the above ... it's been a hustle and a learning curve and I'm so grateful for it 🙏

OK. Usually I excerpt the blog in these "blog" posts but this one is a bit stream of consciousness, even for me ❤ it really belongs in its entirety ❤ (link in bio!) .
So for efficiency's sake, I will summarize:
.
👊 it is insane to me to think about the space we are raised to take up (or not), and how much that can follow us and define us in our working lives (and beyond)
.
👊 there comes a time in life (if we're lucky) where we become aware of that programming and start to override it - by making decisions about the space we will inhabit (thank you very much) .
👊 this is about Showing Up beyond the labels and permission granted by others - and just taking up the space you choose to take up - AKA unlimited worthiness
.
👊 practical applications abound: In the interview. In the meeting. In the salary negotiation. In the presentation. In the "performance discussions". In the networking. In the risk appetite! In the being human.
.
👊obvs this isn't literal ( not about the size of your body), but actually this blog came out of a phrase I repeat all the time in my #prenatalyogaclass @studioblueyoga (Sundays 10:15 - send your pregnant friends 🐣) - and that phrase is: Take Up Space.
.
The cycle of life teaches us this one, so it has to be real and important #wisdomofnature🤰 💫
.

We got caught in a downpour.⠀
.⠀
It was so notable that multiple neighbours mentioned it afterwards - they had seen the three of us and our wagon charge merrily (naively) to the "far park" - the one that's a 13+ minute walk away.⠀
.⠀
With - unbeknownst to us - an early summer thunderstorm about to hit - sudden dusky sky at four in the afternoon. .⠀
Next the thunder (and the 1 and 3 year old leap into my arms).⠀
.⠀
Then the sky just opened. ⠀
.⠀
Throwing one in the wagon and one over my shoulders - grateful every day for my decade as a gym and yoga rat - never imagining that one day I would have an actual practical real-life reason to be physically strong: lifting two 30 pound children regularly. ⠀
.⠀
In the case of sudden thunderstorms, for example. ⠀
.⠀
And were we upset? ⠀
.⠀
Actually, against all the odds, we were enchanted. ⠀
.⠀
For my part, I kept saying "isn't this incredible?" and "Isn't this beautiful?"⠀
.⠀
Pointing to the sheets of water pounding down on to us and the sidewalk. Getting amused smiles from the few people caught in it with us, dashing out with their dogs. All sensibly carrying umbrellas.⠀
.⠀
But the two thirty-pounders? Speechless. Spellbound. ⠀
.⠀
And we were cleansed. .

Keeping it simple over here (trying to). ⁣

Job posting = question.
Your resumé = answer. ⁣

Which means you need to read the question. Then read it again.⁣

I had this one client in my early days consulting.. every time I sent him a memo, and we got on the phone to discuss it, he would say this: ⁣
.⁣
"Thanks for you memo, I read it. Then I read it again." ⁣
.⁣
I found this endearing. I worked exclusively for boards at the time, which meant my clients were generally older, and many had made it their business to be intimidating.⁣
.⁣
This guy was different. He was keeping it simple, in such a smart way. He read things twice - a habit he had developed, and it worked. He had a clearer grasp of the issues, asked more thoughtful questions and moved forward more quickly.⁣

Read the job description, friends. Twice. Then answer it✌

Mornings. Calm preceding chaos. .⁣
Yesterday we cleaned up the yard (I cleaned up the yard while the little guy pushed the enormous paper bag over 15 times). Loves gardening now. 🤣

It's incredible to me, that under half a foot of dead leaves, we found plant life. Popping up under there. Like they had actual faith that I would eventually clear the flower beds and allow them access to the sun🧚‍♀️☀️

Perfectly founded faith 🌱
.⁣
Imagine we all operated that way. Even when it's feeling dark + heavy. .
Faith that "Any minute now this layer of leaves pressing down on me will literally get picked up, shoved in a giant bag and taken far away". 💫

Pretty excited to witness the world coming back to life this spring 🌈

I was fortunate in my early career. I worked my butt off, yes. I also started out in a company that gave me a lot of runway to develop and grow. #winningcombo⁣
.⁣
Still, I figured out pretty early on that the industry I had landed in wasn't my end game. I could tell I was not on a straight highway type of career. At some point I was going to need to make a turn. ⁣
.⁣
Problem was, I found that idea terrifying. Not only was I obsessed with what other people might think (AKA wasted energy on top of wasted energy), I didn't understand how I could apply for work that was different from the work I'd been doing. ⁣
.⁣
Is that even allowed? How would that work? ⁣
.⁣
Fear + lack of knowledge left me doing a bunch of stuff other than my calling for a long time. Which is why I'm so passionate about helping people pursue their calling. Starting immediately.
.
And eliminating the fear and limits we put around our own potential, based solely on the type of work we've done before. ⁣
.⁣

So, 3 years ago right now (literally) I was bringing this baby into the world. .
This photo was taken 6 months later. .
I have lots of photos of the two of us, but I love her little face in this one. She's right where she wants to be, and vice versa 😍
.
Unsurprisingly I'm honoring the occasion of her 3rd birthday (and 3 years parenting for me) by writing about... us.
.
Here's a bit of this week's blog, which publishes tmrw:

The first thing, is that we were meant for each other.
.
I am Pisces. I am the place where the zodiac completes. I am endings and letting go, dissolving into something greater, more mysterious, barely hanging on to this physical life by a finger.
.
She is Aries. She is the place where everything begins. She is about the physicality of her own being, standing in it, fully present, fresh, innocent, unwavering.
.
We are both so close to Source - me heading back home - her, newly arrived.
.
She came into the world softly.
.
I mean, she was loud (so was I). But the whole thing felt soft. Relatively calm. Perfectly timed, labour started on her due date in the early morning, she arrived late that night.
.
The first few days were strange, of course. I actually cried when she developed a diaper rash. I asked myself "what kind of horrible mother am I?".
.
Answer: A fine one. A new one.
.
I was triggered when my own mother took over that situation, instituted an expert level diaper changing process, as she would - she, a master of process and also diaper changing.
.
On the precipice of my own massive healing journey, I thought she was judging me. Of course that wasn't true, I was only judging my self. Lessons, lessons everywhere. Mothers and daughters, am I right?
.
Thank goodness for mothers.
.
